Eurozone crisis management has continued to dominate investment markets in recent months, while at home clarity has begun to emerge on the Minimum Funding Standard but risk remains the dominant issue for defined benefit schemes.
Recent Events:
Political upheavals in Greece and now Italy and the associated uncertainty in markets have quickly dampened the general sense of optimism that accompanied the announcement of October 27th from the summit of EU leaders that included agreement on the recapitalisation of Eurozone banks, a 50% write-down of Greek debt, a prospective increase in the ability of the EFSF to intervene in markets and a written commitment from the Italian government to introduce reforms.
